[08-09-2022] Riverside County, CA - Motorcyclist Suspected Of DUI Suffered Major Injuries in Collision on SR-79 Crash Near TemeculaAccording to a California Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist from Temecula was seriously injured after he t-boned a Jeep Cherokee on state Route 79 in Aguanga Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2022.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. north on SR-79 from Borrego Springs to Temecula.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the 33-year-old was traveling from Borrego Springs to Temecula on a Yamaha sport bike while traveling north on SR-79.

He rode through the SR-371 intersection at about 30-35 mph without stopping and crashed into the Jeep’s passenger door as the driver tried to make a left turn onto the 371, according to Lassig.

The man was seriously hurt after being thrown from his bike. According to Lassig, he was flown to the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar. He was unable to provide an update on his health.

Lassig claims that witnesses claim the motorcycle passed a slower-moving car and crossed a double yellow line before getting to the stop sign and running through it.

It is assumed that alcohol played a role in this collision.

According to Lassig, the 65-year-old Aguanga woman who was driving the Jeep escaped the collision unharmed.

There were no reported arrests. The CHP is still looking into the collision.
