AMR ambulance personnel, Santa Maria firefighters, and police officers were called to the scene on South Broadway between Stowell Road and Pershing Street.
According to Officer Andy Brice of the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, the injured rider was taken there for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening wounds.
Alcohol and drugs don’t seem to have been a factor, and all of the drivers stayed at the scene of the collision, Brice continued.
Brice said that the preliminary investigation did indicate that the motorcyclist’s excessive speed may have played a role in the collision.
Investigations are ongoing to determine what caused the collision.
Two-Vehicle Crash Statistics
In America, car accidents have recently become a major issue. Every year, more than one million people are killed in vehicle accidents. Due to this pattern, 3,287 people per day on average pass away in vehicle accidents. Another 20 to 50 million people have suffered injuries or disabilities as a result of traffic accidents.
Every day, hundreds of people bike and walk through the downtown area. Drivers are required to maintain a constant focus on the road. A car crash can happen in the blink of an eye. Driving anywhere in California is risky.
California accounts for more than 10% of all vehicle fatalities in the country. In the 485,866 car accidents that occurred in California in 2017, at least 3,898 people died, and 276,823 sustained injuries. Since 2013, the number of fatalities from traffic accidents has increased by 23.5%.
Nine per 100,000 people were killed in car crashes in California in 2018. Vehicle collisions cause the majority of unintentional injury deaths in this state.
When driving, pay attention to the road, maintain the condition of your car, and keep your driving abilities sharp.
