According to the authorities, a San Diego man was killed the day after his 27th birthday in a two-vehicle crash on the Serra Mesa Freeway Friday, July 29, 2022.
The crash occurred at 1:00 a.m on Interstate 15 north of Friars Road.
The authorities identified the man as Joseph E. of San Diego, who died at the crash scene.
According to the county Medical Examiner’s Office, Estrella was driving fast north on Interstate 15 when the Toyota sedan he was in veered to the right and hit a box truck with a flat tire parked on the eastern shoulder of the road north of Friars Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man driving the truck, a 25-year-old from Spring Valley, was outside of it at the time of the crash.
He got minor injuries when the car hit the truck and pushed it into him.
