[08-31-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Reckless DUI Driver Crashed into Property in Castaic

According to the California Highway Patrol, a DUI suspect was arrested after a single-vehicle crash in which their vehicle flew off and landed on a property in Castaic late Wednesday night, August 31, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 11:31 p.m. near the 5 Freeway south of the Parker Road exit.

According to CHP reports, an SUV “flew off the freeway” and landed near Tapia Canyon on property belonging to the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center.

Initial reports said that the car may have been going too fast before the accident and went through a road closure caused by the Route Fire.

According to Josh Greengard, a spokesman for the CHP Newhall Area Office, CHP officers came and found the car, but there was no one in it.

A search of the immediate area turned up a single person walking away from the accident scene. Through the investigation, it was found that he was driving the silver SUV. He was then arrested on suspicion of driving while drunk.

The number of people injured because of the crash was not immediately released.
