[11-12-2022] Six People Injured in South Los Angeles Carnival CollisionThe Los Angeles Police Department reported that at least six people got injured when a vehicle crashed through a street carnival in South Los Angeles on Saturday night, November 12, 2022.

According to the police, the collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Trinity Street, close to Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police reports said that when cops attempted to stop the driver of a white Porsche Cayenne, he resisted. At that point, he kept going and crashed into the carnival set up in the roadway, smashing through a cement rail.

The driver, who has not yet been recognized, struck at least six persons, all of whom are in their 30s to 50s. All six people were taken to the hospital right away with non-life-threatening wounds.

Nobody was seriously hurt aside from the six victims. It was unclear if the driver was honking, but people were reportedly yelling. Many people spotted the car approaching and, fortunately, moved out of the road in time.

Police reported that a person of interest had been detained after officers discovered the suspect’s car a few blocks away.

Sgt. Robert Leary of the LAPD said that he could not get out of the fair, so he went westbound MLK, continuing into the crowd, estimated to be between a thousand and 2,000 people.

It’s unknown if the driver was drinking or using drugs at the time of the accident. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
