[11-18-2022] 73-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in WintonAuthorities said a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Winton on Friday evening, November 18, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:12 p.m. at Winton Way and Gerard Avenue intersection.

The 73-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Winton Way eastbound when he was hit by a 2020 Toyota Prius traveling north on Winton Way, south of Gerard Avenue at 35 mph.

The victim was taken to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto for sustaining major injuries, where he would die the following day.

The driver, 73-year-old Darla P., failed to notice the man in the crosswalk. She reportedly stayed on the scene and helped the investigators.

According to the CHP, it was established that Peters was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the collision occurred.
