[12-09-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Mother and Child Injured When SUV Crashed into Donut Shop in Santa Clarita

Authorities said a mother and child were injured when an SUV crashed into a crowded donut store in Santa Clarita on Friday morning, December 09, 2022.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred just before 8:30 a.m. at the Yum Yum Donuts store at the 16500 block of Soledad Canyon Road in the Canyon Country neighborhood.

The firefighters who responded to the crash said the victims were inside the shop when a recent model of Chevrolet Equinox driven by an elderly driver smashed into the store.

The driver was reportedly not sure what exactly happened but thought she might have mistaken the accelerator for the brake.

The request for Copter 15 to land at neighboring Canyon Country Park was later canceled in favor of taking the two patients to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital by ground ambulance.

The Santa Clarita Valley Station traffic bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is still looking into the crash.
