[08-24-2022] Pedestrian Hit and Killed on Highway 273A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in the southbound lanes of Highway 273, under the railroad overcrossing on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

The accident occurred just past midnight along Wyndham Lane and Buenaventura Blvd.

According to Redding Police, the victim was pulling a shopping cart through the intersection when he was hit and killed and was most likely homeless.

The victim was declared dead at the scene. Officials did not immediately release the identity of the victim.

The southbound lanes of Highway 273 were closed near Wyndham Lane, but the route is now reopened.

There was no evidence that the motorist was under the influence.

The crash remains under investigation.
