[08-27-2022] Several Motorists Injured Following a Hit-and-Run Accident in the Cajon PassThe California Highway Patrol has identified the person who was involved in the hit-and-run crash that occurred in Cajon Pass that injured three riders, unfortunately one person succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The suspect was identified as Elvin Mundo, the 30-year-old drunk driver was arrested after a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist Saturday night on the I-15 but later released after bail.

The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.

Two hit-and-run suspects were arrested after fleeing the scene of a multiple motorcycle collision that injured three riders in the Cajon Pass on Saturday night, August 27, 2022.

The crash occurred at about 9:43 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15 at the Oak Hill Road exit.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the San Bernardino Fire Department responded to reports of an accident.

Several motorcycles traveling in a pack and a silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck with several front-end and side damage were involved in the crash. Before the crash, witnesses said that the driver of the Toyota was speeding and driving erratically.

The truck driver allegedly hit at least four Mongols Motorcycle Club riders, with one rider underneath the truck sideways in the fast lane.

One motorcycle passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with a fractured wrist, road rash, bumps, and bruises. The other two riders were taken by ground ambulance to a neighboring hospital with road rash, bumps, and bruises.

The Toyota Tundra pickup truck’s driver and passenger fled the scene before being apprehended nearby.

The case is under investigation.
