Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Many drivers don’t know that single-vehicle accidents are among California’s most dangerous types of car crashes.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that one vehicle is involved in 62% of all fatal car accidents in California (NHTSA). Due to the high number of one-car accidents in California, drivers need to know what causes these accidents.
A single-vehicle crash can happen for some reasons. A run-off-the-road accident occurs when a driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sudden turns on a wet road. On the road, there may be trash, like a big branch or something that fell off a truck.
In a single-car accident that wasn’t your fault or another driver’s fault, like when a deer jumped in front of your car, your comprehensive coverage plan will probably limit how much you can get back.
Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers
Many people hurt in car accidents can’t return to work or school because of their injuries. Even if a person dies, a careless driver is still responsible. The driver who killed a person for carelessness could be sued for wrongful death by the victim’s family (or legal heirs).
For them, it hurts to feel their loss and grief again. During depositions and trials, victims have to talk about what happened to them in front of people they don’t know. If a case goes on for months or even years, it can be hard on a person’s mind.
If a driver is careless and causes an accident, they must be held responsible. When carelessness causes many unnecessary deaths, people need to be held accountable. Wrongful death claims can be hard on the people left behind but can also bring closure. This will help every driver in California.
