Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

One of California’s most dangerous car accidents is a one-car accident, but many drivers don’t know this.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that one car is to blame for 62% of all fatal car crashes in California. Because there are a lot of one-car accidents in California, drivers need to know what can lead to them.

A single-car accident can be caused by a lot of different things. “Run-off-the-road” accidents happen when a driver loses control of their car while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet, slippery road. You might find something that fell off the back of a truck or a big branch on the road.

If you get into a single-car accident that wasn’t your fault or the other driver’s, your comprehensive coverage plan may limit how much you get. In the case of a deer jumping in front of your car, for instance.
