Rollover Accident Statistics
Roller accidents occur when automobiles collide and roll onto their sides or tops. Rollover accidents are uncommon, but it does not diminish the fact that they are devastating.
Every year, rollover accidents kill around 30% of passenger automobile occupants. The proportion of rollover fatalities in light trucks is 47%, compared to 22% in passenger car occupant fatalities. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 20% of occupant deaths in non-SUV vehicles happened in rollovers in 2018.
These accidents can be caused by several factors, including speed, road conditions, and the vehicle’s weight. Rollover accidents are often more severe than other types of accidents, as they can result in the occupants being ejected from the vehicle. As such, it is important to take precautions to avoid rollovers.
For example, drivers should avoid sudden turns and slow down when driving on winding roads. In addition, vehicles should be properly maintained to ensure that tires are inflated, and brakes are in good working order. By taking these measures, drivers can help to prevent rollover accidents.
