A construction worker was seriously hurt when he was hit by a sign on State Route 125 in the San Carlos region on Tuesday night, September 13, 2022.
According to authorities, the accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. on the southbound side of SR-125, close to Navajo Road.
Authorities claim that an SUV struck a sizable flashing arrow sign that was mounted on a trailer as it was passing a construction zone on the freeway.
According to witnesses, the worker was struck by the sign despite trying to dive out of the way after the impact.
According to local news, the injured worker was taken directly to the hospital with critical but unidentified wounds.
There were no other reported injuries.
Authorities are investigating whether drunk driving contributed to the accident.
