[09-22-2022] Santa Clara County, CA – One Person Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in San Jose

According to San Jose Police, one person was injured, and at least seven people were displaced after a car crashed into an apartment building in San Jose on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

The collision happened at around 1:45 a.m. near Senter Road and Sylvandale Avenue.

A silver four-door Audi sedan is seen on a local news video crashing into the apartment building’s wall on Crabapple Way.

A wheel that came loose from one of the vehicles slammed into another area of the complex after the car apparently hit a parked car.

According to witnesses, four people were reportedly in the car, and they all took off. But the owner claimed to have heard that the driver had been taken into custody.

Later on Thursday, San Jose police confirmed that they had located the driver and had detained them on suspicion of hit-and-run and drunk driving.

At least seven people had to find new housing, and two apartment buildings are expected to be red-tagged due to the damage. According to police, one of the car’s passengers received minor injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.
