Two people were killed after a pursuit led to a two-vehicle crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, January 31, 2023.
According to reports, the fatal collision occurred around 7:50 p.m. north of Woodman Avenue in Panorama City.
Authorities stated that a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was discovered on South Alvarado Street near Olympic Boulevard in the Westlake District, sparking a pursuit.
The suspect driver began to take evasive measures to get away from the officers.
Several minutes later, the truck struck a Honda Civic near Woodman Avenue on Lanark Street. The impact caused severe damage to the Honda.
Paramedics arrived and declared one of the Civic’s occupants dead at the scene. The second victim died while being transported to the hospital.
Despite fleeing on foot, the truck’s driver and passenger were caught. One suspect was shot with a taser and hurt during a forceful takedown.
Before the collision, police officers switched to tracking mode, which involved backing off and ending the pursuit.
Authorities have not released the victims’ identities.
