[02-09-2023] Two-Car Collision in Bakersfield Killed 69-Year-Old DriverA two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 69-year-old driver in Bakersfield early Thursday morning, February 9, 2023.

The crash reportedly occurred around 5:48 a.m. on Sherwood Avenue and Driver Road.

Authorities stated that a 69-year-old female driver was in a Toyota Rav4 northbound on Driver Road approaching the intersection with Sherwood Avenue at an unknown speed.

Simultaneously, a 51-year-old McFarland man drove a Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound, approaching the intersection with Driver Road at approximately 65 mph.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection directly into the path of the Chevrolet.

As a result, the Chevy driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Responders were immediately alerted and upon arrival, they pronounced the 69-year-old Toyota driver had died.

According to investigations, drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this crash.
