Five people were injured after a towed plane crashed into a shuttle bus in Los Angeles late Friday night, February 10, 2023.
Reports indicated that the crash occurred around 10:00 p.m. at Los Angeles International Airport.
According to authorities, an American Airlines Airbus A321 towed to a parking area collided with a shuttle bus transporting passengers between terminals while being towed.
Officials stated that four people were taken to hospitals. The tug driver and two bus passengers were in good health, as was the tug driver pulling the plane.
Meanwhile, the only person on the plane, a worker, was treated but declined hospitalization.

Bus Collision Statistics
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), 232 people were killed in bus accidents in 2017. Compared to 2016, fatal bus accidents decreased by 1%.
Commuter buses accounted for 13% of all bus accidents that killed passengers between 2007 and 2017. Around 40% of the buses were school buses, with the remaining 35% being public buses. In 2017, 13 intercity buses were involved in tragic accidents in the United States. This year has seen the fewest bus accidents since the FMCSA began keeping records.
In 2018, 117 people were killed in school bus accidents, according to the National Safety Council (NSC). Meanwhile, in California, 277 people were killed, and 3,939 were injured.
Human error is to blame for the vast majority of bus accidents. An accident can occur when bus drivers fail to pay attention or complete their duties. Other types of negligence could lead to a bus accident, such as failing to maintain the vehicle in good condition or providing proper training to bus drivers.
