What Should I Do After an Accident?

Law enforcement should arrive at the scene and file a report. During an interview at the location of the accident, tell the truth about what you saw and experienced. Be cautious when speaking, and do not assume anything about something you do not understand. Anxiety and shock can lead to victims apologizing profusely after an accident, even when they are not at fault. Insurance companies can use this act of kindness to prove that you have admitted guilt to avoid paying out on a claim.

In California, pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicle occupants have all been injured in traffic accidents.
