[02-18-2023] Two Children Injured After Car Crashed into Oakland House and Sparked FireFive people, including three children, were injured after a car crashed into a house and sparked a fire in Oakland on Saturday evening, February 18, 2023.

According to the Oakland Fire Department, the crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sereno Circle after the vehicle sped down Campus Drive and across Redwood Road.

The motorist was reportedly traveling at high speed when it leapt a curb and struck some landscaping before driving into the house’s garage. The firefighters let the resulting fire burning as the car was on top of a gas main, totally shearing it, making it a gas-fed fire.

The car’s five occupants, two adults and three children, escaped after the crash. The responders requested two ambulance, and the two children sustained minor injuries. The third child and the two adults received medical care at the scene. The house next door caught fire. It was unknown if anyone was inside, though nobody was inside the hit house.

Gas was turned off in the area by PG&E. It took about 30 firefighters to put out the fire and get it under control. Why the motorist lost control is unknown as the investigation continues.
