A pedestrian crash claimed the life of a man in a wheelchair in Bakersfield on Friday night, March 24, 2023.
Reports confirmed that the collision occurred around 7:00 p.m. between 4th and V Streets.
According to authorities, the man was crossing the road in an unmarked section in a wheelchair when hit by a vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered the severely injured pedestrian unresponsive on the road.
As a result of his injuries, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the female driver stayed in the area and cooperated with police investigations. Neither speeding, drugs, nor alcohol appears to have played a role in the crash.
The identity of the deceased will be revealed later by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
