[04-03-2023] Pedestrian Killed After Hit-and-Run Crash in North BakersfieldOne pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle that fled the scene in north Bakersfield on Monday morning, April 03, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. along Highway 99 at 7th Standard Road.

Responding officers located the pedestrian lying in the highway’s southbound lanes. The unidentified victim reportedly crossed the on-ramp and into the path of an unknown vehicle traveling southbound.

The victim was declared dead at the site. The vehicle that struck them sped away and fled the area.

There is no evidence that either drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. No other details were immediately available.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is urged to call the authorities.
