The California Highway Patrol reported that the fatal crash occurred early morning at about 5:00 a.m. on westbound I-80 at Davis Street.

The woman reportedly attempted to run across the highway before being hit by the truck. CHP officials also said that other vehicles might have hit the victim, and not all remained on site.

No further information was released on the woman’s identity. It also remains unclear why she was running across the freeway.

The fatal crash caused all lanes on westbound I-80 to close before being reopened a few hours later.
