What to Do After a Car Accident

Predicting car accidents is hard, but being prepared can make all the difference. Having a checklist in your glove box can help you remain calm and organized in the event of an accident, particularly a multi-car accident. Being involved in a multi-car accident can be
overwhelming, so protecting your legal rights and yourself in the aftermath is critical. If your vehicle has been damaged, these steps can help you get compensation:

  1. Stay calm: Keep your composure, even if upset or shaken.
  2. Move your vehicle to a secure location: If possible, move it to the side of the road or another safe spot away from traffic.
  3. Call 911: Call 911 right away if anyone is hurt or has significant vehicle damage.
  4. Exchange information: Obtain the names, phone numbers, addresses, and insurance information of everyone involved in the accident.
  5. Don’t admit fault: Don’t confess or apologize, even if you’re at fault. Let the authorities and insurance companies determine who’s liable.
  6. Seek medical attention: If you or someone involved in the accident is hurt, seek medical attention promptly.
  7. Contact your insurance provider immediately to report the accident and provide the necessary details.
  8. Speak to insurance adjusters: Be honest and straightforward when conversing with insurance adjusters, but don’t accept responsibility or make assumptions.
  9. Keep a file: Record all accident-related information, including police reports, medical bills, and insurance correspondence.
  10. Consider hiring an accident lawyer: If you need more clarity about your rights or are facing legal action, consider seeking advice and assistance from an accident lawyer.
