[04-29-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – A Man Found Dead After Hit-and-Run Accident in Irwindale

A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Irwindale on Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2023.

According to the Irwindale Police Department, the incident occurred before 1:30 p.m. at the 5000 block of Azusa Canyon Road.

According to the report, the victim was discovered dead beside train tracks following a hit-and-run incident involving a dark-colored SUV that left the scene. Detectives investigated nearby business surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and its owner responsible for the accident.

They identified the suspect as John S., a driver from Baldwin Park. He was taken into custody early Sunday for vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run. Detectives located Shin based on a tip, and he was later released on $50,000 bail.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The police are waiting for the victim’s family to be notified before they disclose the victim’s name.
