[06-23-2023] San Diego County – Elderly Woman in Motorized Wheelchair Injured After Hit-And-Run Crash in Hillcrest Neighborhood

An 82-year-old woman in a motorized wheelchair was injured after a hit-and-run crash in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego on Friday afternoon, June 23, 2023.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:51 p.m. at University Avenue and Sixth Avenue.

Authorities stated that a truck turning right onto southbound Sixth Avenue struck the woman as she crossed the street in a marked crosswalk while in her motorized wheelchair. The unidentified pedestrian was going eastbound on the south side of University Avenue.

Officials reported that the victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening left femur fracture. The police added that the truck driver drove away from the scene.
