[06-22-2023] Orange County, CA – Hit-and-Run Suspect Injured One Person After Pursuit and Crash in Los Alamitos, Faces Child Abuse Charges

One person was injured after a hit-and-run accident in Los Alamitos on Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2023.

The Seal Beach Police Department said the pursuit started at Garden Grove and onto the northbound 405 Freeway.

According to the report, the suspect was identified as Cody Brian R., 25. He crashed into another vehicle in Los Alamitos and fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle he crashed into was transported to a nearby hospital due to pain and discomfort. The driver’s identity remains undisclosed.

Prior to the incident, authorities received a report just before 3:40 p.m. regarding a child abuse case at Heather Street and Guevara Avenue intersection. The child was found alone in the area with visible injuries and received medical treatment, and Child Protective Services was notified.

The authorities arrested Rohlfing, who was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and taken into custody. He faces charges of resisting arrest, evading police, and hit-and-run resulting in injuries, including child abuse.

The investigation is still ongoing.
