[07-14-2023] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Critically Injured by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in University City

A man was struck and critically injured by a hit-and-run vehicle in University City, San Diego, on Friday morning, July 14, 2023.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:24 a.m. at 8500 Genesee Avenue.

The report said a red Kia was traveling southbound and collided with the pedestrian in the roadway.

Following the collision, the Kia fled the scene but was found unoccupied nearby. There is currently no description available for the suspected driver.

The pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. His injuries are severe and considered to be life-threatening.
