A person sustained minor burns following a fiery two-vehicle collision in the Stevenson Ranch area, Santa Clarita, on Tuesday afternoon, July 25, 2023.
According to California Highway Patrol officer Michael N., the incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at Lyons Avenue at around 12:30 p.m.
Before the collision, the CHP Bakersfield was pursuing a speeding Dodge Challenger when it struck another vehicle in Santa Clarita under the jurisdiction of the CHP Newhall, said CHP officer Josh G.
After the collision, Esteban B., an LA County Fire Department official, reported that the two vehicles burst into flames and caused a quarter-acre brush fire.
One person was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment of minor burns. At the same time, the authorities took at least one person into custody.
No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved, pending an investigation.
