Whether you are the injured or the family of the killed victim, here are a few tips for protecting the value of your personal injury claim:

  • Contact the authorities after an accident and have an officer complete a report.
  • Keep careful records of everything that occurred on the day of the accident, including how you felt and what you saw.
  • Take pictures of the at-fault driver’s license, insurance card, and vehicle registration.
  • Gather all information you can about potential witnesses.
  • See a doctor or other healthcare provider immediately, and be specific about the areas of your body that are in pain.
  • Keep a journal detailing your injuries, the treatments you’re undergoing, and the financial impact of your recovery.
