[08-03-2023] One Severely Injured After Vehicle and Big Rig Collision in Elk GroveAn individual is seriously injured following an SUV and big rig crash in Elk Grove on Thursday morning, August 03, 2023.

The Elk Grove Police Department said the incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. at the Calvine and Bradshaw roads intersection, near Bradshaw Christian and Sheldon high schools.

The report determined that a big rig jackknifed after colliding with an SUV, blocking the intersection.

The SUV driver suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital. As a result of the accident, the intersection was shut down. As of this writing, it remains unclear when traffic will resume.

The cause of the accident is not yet known as further investigation continues.

The identities of the people involved were undisclosed.
