[08-27-2023] Alameda County, CA – Male Driver Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Standing Outside His Van Near Castro Valley

A male driver died when he was struck by a vehicle while standing outside his van in Castro Valley in Alameda County on Sunday morning, August 27, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at approximately 2:36 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-580, just east of Eden Canyon Road.

Authorities said the white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer swerved onto the right shoulder and collided with a 2021 Ford E-Transit Van. The driver of the van was struck while standing outside the vehicle. Tragically, the driver was declared dead, and his identity has not been disclosed.
