A bicyclist was hospitalized after a collision with a DUI driver in Davis on Monday evening, August 28, 2023.
According to the Davis Police Department, officers responded to the collision at around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Covell Boulevard and Anderson Road.
Authorities reported discovering an injured cyclist and a damaged traffic pole nearby. Witnesses directed officers to the Save Mart parking lot, where a white Ford sedan was believed to be driven by the negligent driver.
Officers located the extensively damaged white Ford, along with the driver, 71-year-old Richard S. of Woodland, who was suspected of driving under the influence.
Police said that the driver was arrested and brought into the Yolo County Jail for driving under the influence of drugs.
The authorities have released no further details, and the investigation into the collision continues.
