[10-18-2023] Orange County, CA – Student Severely Injured Following Hit-And-Run Crash in Santa Ana

A 12-year-old student was severely injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Santa Ana on Wednesday morning, October 18, 2023.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Newhope Street.

The student was struck by a blue Honda heading eastbound while walking to Fitz Intermediate School, located southwest of the intersection.

The driver fled the scene after the crash, while the young victim was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Traffic was restricted on the avenue as authorities investigated. Further details on the crash have yet to be released.
