A motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision with a vehicle on Highway 162 in Oroville on Thursday night, October 26, 2023.
The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of the incident around 6:45 p.m. on the highway at Apica Avenue, east of the city.
Officials reported that the motorcycle was heading westbound on the highway when an oncoming Ford Escape attempted to turn northbound onto Heritage Road. Both vehicles collided head-on, and the rider suffered major injuries.
Upon the arrival of emergency teams, the rider was found conscious and was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico to be treated for several broken bones, including a broken femur. No information regarding the Ford driver’s condition was provided.
Officers reported that both drivers made contradictory statements, and the crash is still being investigated. The CHP is actively seeking witnesses present at the scene when the crash occurred.
