A multi-vehicle collision in Sacramento kills one and injures three other people on Tuesday, September 8.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial reports, the fatal crash took place on Interstate 5 at Florin Road in Sacramento at around 6:00 p.m. A big rig rear-ended a sedan, which sparked the multi-vehicle collision. A total of nine vehicles were said to be involved in the accident.
The big rig tipped over, blocking all of the southbound lanes. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Three people sustained injuries from the accident. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factored in the crash.
Multi-Vehicle Collision Investigation is Underway
When three or more cars collide on the roadway, it is considered a multi-vehicle collision. This type of car accident is commonly caused by a “chain reaction,” when one car bumps into another, which causes the other to hit the next vehicle.
Multi-vehicle collisions are commonly caused by drunk driving, speeding, and distracted driving. It can be quite challenging to pinpoint liability during a multi-vehicle collision investigation, so it is essential to hire an experienced Sacramento County personal injury attorney to conduct an independent investigation. Attorneys can re-interview important witnesses, review relevant surveillance footage from the scene, and obtain the responsible party’s phone and texting records.
