Car Accident Statistics

Road traffic accidents remain a major global concern. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1.19 million people die each year in traffic crashes, and another 20 to 50 million suffer non-fatal injuries, many of which result in long-term disabilities. Beyond the human toll, these accidents also cause significant financial losses, including medical expenses, property damage, and lost productivity.

In the United States, traffic fatalities show signs of gradual improvement. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) projects that there were 8,650 traffic deaths in the first quarter of 2024, representing a 3.2 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023. These numbers highlight both the ongoing risks of road travel and the progress being made in reducing traffic-related deaths.
