A 16-year-old girl died and multiple people were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Bakersfield on Sunday evening, August 10, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded just after 6 p.m. to the 4400 block of Union Avenue for reports of a collision.
Authorities said a Jeep traveling westbound on Panorama Drive crossed into the northbound lane of Union Avenue, colliding with a Hyundai that was traveling northbound.
The Kern County Coronerโs Office identified the deceased as Juana G. of Bakersfield. She was a passenger in the Hyundai and sustained severe injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hyundaiโs driver and two additional passengers suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a hospital. The Jeepโs driver, a man, also sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized.
Police said speed and drug intoxication are believed to be contributing factors. The investigation is ongoing.
