One person was killed and several others were injured following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 12 in Rio Vista on Friday evening, August 15, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 5:03 p.m. on eastbound Highway 12, west of Highway 13.
Authorities said the driver of a tan Toyota Camry attempted to pass a big-rig, swerved, lost control, and entered the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder.
The Toyota driver died at the scene. CHP said the Nissan, which carried four occupants, was struck head-on. The passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.
The investigation into the collision continues.
