[02-01-2026] Alameda County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle on Claremont Ave. in North Oakland

A 72-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in North Oakland on Sunday evening, February 1, 2026.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:29 p.m. in the 6000 block of Claremont Avenue, near College Avenue.

Investigators stated that the man was walking in the southbound traffic lane when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Billy G., who lived elsewhere in Oakland.

Authorities reported that the driver involved, a 21-year-old woman from Berkeley, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police indicated that drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
