[04-06-2026] Mono County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Toyota Prius on US-395

A 34-year-old male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Toyota Prius on northbound US-395 near Vista Point, Mono County, on Monday evening, April 6, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 8:19 p.m. when the pedestrian, who was walking and pushing a bicycle, was in the #1 lane of northbound US-395.

A 2017 Toyota Prius, driven by Alexandria L., was traveling northbound in the same lane when it struck the pedestrian.

The impact propelled the pedestrian into a dirt-and-rock embankment. He sustained immediate major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the CHP Bishop Area and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver and her passenger, Uriel M., both sustained minor injuries. The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Brune Mortuary Office after notification to the next of kin.

The crash is under investigation.
