[08-19-2024] San Joaquin County, CA – Two Injured in Construction Zone Crash on I-205 East of El Rancho Rd.

Two people were injured following a crash in an active construction zone in San Joaquin County on Monday night, August 19, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 10:25 p.m. on the westbound Interstate 205 east of El Rancho Road.

Authorities stated that a 27-year-old Stockton man working as a contractor for Caltrans was positioned in the left rear bucket of a 2022 Ram parked in a closed lane within the construction zone. At the same time, an 18-year-old driver operating a 2016 Chevrolet reportedly moved into the closed #3 lane and collided with the rear of the Ram.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The Caltrans contractor suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officials stated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the collision.
