[09-18-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach

A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach early Friday morning, September 18, 2026.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred at around 12:35 a.m. when a white BMW sedan traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway struck the man as he was crossing the street.

Police said a wheelchair was involved in the incident, but authorities did not confirm whether the victim was using the wheelchair when he was struck.

The BMW driver fled the scene but was apprehended by police moments later at East 2nd Street and Pacific Coast Highway, according to authorities.

Responding officers performed CPR until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and continued life-saving measures. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man at the scene was transported to a hospital for an unrelated medical condition. Police said he was not injured in the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
