[09-23-2026] Santa Cruz County, CA – 23-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Collision With Pickup Truck Near Watsonville

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided near Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, on Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 7:01 a.m. near the intersection of Corralitos Road and Merk Road.

CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 61-year-old Watsonville man was driving a 2000 GMC pickup northbound on Corralitos Road and attempting to turn left onto Merk Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the pickup collided with a southbound 2004 Yamaha motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

CHP said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and the pickup driver was wearing a seat belt. Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
