Reckless Driving Statistics

It’s dangerous for other people’s lives to be put at risk by drivers who drive aggressively or recklessly. Innocent people should not be put in harm’s way as a result of someone else’s reckless driving.

Damage and injury caused by drivers who operate their vehicles in this manner should be held against them.

Unfortunately, the number of collisions caused by careless motorists has risen steadily across the nation.

An average of 90 people per day are killed in the approximately 6 million accidents that occur each year in the United States. Three million people are hurt in car accidents each year, and 2 million of those suffer long-term damage.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “an individual commits a combination of moving traffic violations to endanger others or property” is reckless driving.

Reckless drivers are responsible for more than a third of the 13,000 people who die in car accidents each year.

Each of these blunders can be traced back to a single act of carelessness. It’s common for drivers to engage in reckless driving behaviors such as speeding, tailgating, or racing each other. Driving under the influence of alcohol and using a cell phone while driving are both examples of careless behavior that all motorists should avoid at all costs.
