Two-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death and serious injury in the United States. Over two million people are injured every year in car accidents. An estimated 36,000 to 40,000 people per year lose their lives due to automobile accidents.
On the other hand, accidents remain a major cause of injury-related deaths in California. In 2017, there were approximately 3,304 fatal car accidents in California, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
There were 8,3 percent fewer fatal traffic accidents in 2018 than in 2017. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, traffic fatalities declined from 3,884 to 3,563 statewide.
There are negligence laws in California. This implies drivers are accountable for your damages when they were at fault in your crash. It is possible to be compensated even if you were partially responsible for the accident.
As a precaution, drivers should maintain a safe distance from each other; avoid intoxicated driving; stay updated on weather conditions, and drive defensively.
