According to the California Highway Patrol, two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that became a high-speed pursuit in Fresno, Friday afternoon, April 22, 2022.
The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Temperance Avenue at North Avenue in the county of Fresno.
According to CHP, the officer found the lanes to be blocked by the two involved vehicles and one person appeared to have sustained injuries. The officer immediately rushed to render aid to the suspected injured victim, 34-year-old Clayton P. on the shoulder of the road near the marked patrol vehicle.
The officer continued to search for additional victims after determining Parker’s injury was minor. On the opposite side of the road, the officer left Parker’s location and spoke with other parties involved.
Parker entered the patrol car and fled the scene in the now-stolen patrol car while the officer attended to the other involved parties.
Parker left the scene with the patrol car’s emergency lights still turned on.
Additional patrol units arrived quickly and intercepted the stolen patrol vehicle near Belmont Avenue and Armstrong Avenue, resulting in a short chase with speeds approaching 75 mph. The chase came to a safe end on Peach.
Parker was taken into custody without a fight on the street over State Route 180, Parker was arrested and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of felony evading, felony auto theft, driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, driving with a suspended driver license, and violating parole conditions.
