An unidentified woman was seriously hurt after a traffic crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Chestnut Avenue on early Sunday morning, May 8, 2022.
The accident transpired at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the area of Chestnut Avenue, just south of Highway 180.
A white Chevy truck stopped on Chestnut Avenue was rear-ended by a Chevy Cruze. The white Chevy truck was stopped at a red light when the accident occurred.
Both the driver and the passenger inside the Chevy truck exited their vehicle to talk to the other driver. Unfortunately, a gray Lexus hit the passenger.
Due to the severity of the impact, the female passenger’s body was sent nearly 15 feet away from the initial crash.
The female passenger was seriously injured and sustained injuries to her head and upper torso. She was immediately taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
Both the Chevy and the Lexus driver were arrested for DUI-related charges. They were identified as 36-year-old Lanian L. and 56-year-old Cornelio C.
Lanian was arrested for DUI causing injury, DUI causing injury with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol level, and driving with a suspended license. Cornelio was arrested for DUI causing injury and driving with a 0.08 percent alcohol concentration causing injury. Local authorities are further
investigating the case.
