[06-09-2022] Placer County, CA - 36-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 49According to the California Highway Patrol, a 36-year-old motorcyclist from Tahoe City died in a collision on Highway 49 late Thursday, June 9, 2022.

The crash occurred around 11:00 p.m. near Reader Ranch Road.

The motorcycle rider slid into oncoming traffic and collided with a Honda CRV.

According to CHP Officer Jason Bice, the victim’s identity is pending notification of next of kin.

The motorcyclist, according to Bice, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed as he approached a right-hand curve.

The motorcyclist was unable to negotiate the right curve due in part to his speed and entered the northbound lane, according to Bice.

The Harley and rider collided with the pavement and slid into the northbound lane.

The motorcyclist struck the road in front of Robert R., 65, of North San Juan, who was driving a 2013 Honda CRV northbound.

Roush attempted to avoid a collision by veering right, but the Harley and its rider collided with Roush’s vehicle, and the Honda sideswiped the east embankment, according to reports.

First responders gave the motorcyclist CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release, Roush was unharmed.

According to reports, officers will investigate whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
