Motorcycle riders are especially likely to get into accidents, which can cause injuries or even death. Motorcycle riders face many obvious daily dangers, such as road rash, brain injuries, and traumatic tattoos.
Most accidents hurt or kill someone because there is no protection, and the chance of a fatal accident is dozens of times higher than a car accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says motorcycle riders are 16 times more likely to be hurt in a traffic accident and 35 times more likely to die.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycle deaths rose by more than 130% between 1997 and 2006, from 2,028 in 1997 to 4,654 in 2006.

In 2017, there were 16,505 motorcycle accidents on California roads. Approximately 15,527 people were hurt, while 541 people have died.
Drivers who are distracted, drive too fast, drive while drunk, drive recklessly, drive the wrong way, or don’t follow traffic laws often cause motorcycle accidents.
Be ready for a collision at all times while riding. Wear a motorcycle helmet, boots, long pants, a motorcycle jacket, eye protection, and other safety gear when riding. Do your best to keep your body loose during a collision to protect yourself. It will be difficult to calm down and relax in a crash, but doing so could save you from tearing your muscles and breaking your bones.
