Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

An accident caused by the negligence of another driver is one of the most terrifying things that can happen to you. Things will only worsen if the other driver refuses to stop and take responsibility for the collision.

Hit-and-run accidents are on the rise. In 2016, hit-and-runs claimed the lives of 2,049 people in the United States. Over 680,000 hit-and-runs are reported to the police each year in the United States. A pedestrian is hit and killed by a car in the United States once every seven days.

An accident that a negligent driver causes is out of the hands of pedestrians.

It’s a matter of personal preference why someone flees the scene of an accident. The more vulnerable a person is, the more likely they are to be involved in a car accident. If someone has been drinking, they are more likely to flee the scene of an accident rather than accept responsibility for their actions.
